Duck with Oriental Orange & Passion Fruit Sauce for 2

Want to cook something tasty for your lover? Then this dish is perfect and moderately easy too.

Ingredients

2 duck breasts fillets, with skin on
2 passion fruits
1 tbsp olive oil
1 garlic clove , chopped
juice of 2 oranges
1 tbsp light muscovado sugar
1 tbsp soy sauce
rocket salad and wild rice , to serve

Use a sharp knife to score the fatty skin on the duck breasts in a diamond pattern - this helps the fat to drain off. Set aside. Halve the passion fruit, scoop out the pulp into a small bowl and reserve.
Heat the oil to a medium heat in a frying pan and cook the duck breasts, skin side down, for 5- 6 minutes until the skin is golden. Turn them over and cook for 6-7 minutes until tender. Take care, as the fat has a tendency to spit.
Put the duck aside on 2 warm plates and keep warm. Drain off all but 1 tbsp of duck fat and cook the garlic until it is just starting to turn golden - no more or it will burn and taste bitter. Stir in the passion fruit pulp, orange juice, sugar and soy sauce. Bring to the boil, and let it bubble away until reduced by two-thirds, about 7-10 minutes. Season, then pour in any of the tasty juices from the duck.
Pass the sauce through a sieve, then pick out a few of the little black pips and add them to the sauce for decoration and crunch. Spoon a little sauce around each duck breast and serve with a simple rocket salad and some boiled white and wild rice.

Romantic Night In - Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Fancy something tasty to share with your lover... why not give this a try!

Ingredients:
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup milk chocolate chips (you can substitute all semi-sweet or all milk chocolate according to your own tastes)
1 tbsp. shortening (do not use butter, margarine, or oil)
2 pints fresh strawberries, washed

Directions:
Cover tray with wax paper. Place chocolate chips and shortening in a medium microwave safe bowl. Microwave at high for 1 minute. Stir. If necessary, microwave an additional 30 seconds or until chips are melted and mixture becomes smooth when stirred vigorously. DO NOT over heat. Holding the strawberry by the top, dip the bottom two-thirds of each strawberry into melted mixture. Shake gently to remove excess chocolate. Place on prepared tray.

Cover and refrigerate approximately 1 hour, or until coating is firm.

Quick Tip: alternatively why not melt your favourite chocolate in a bowl over a pan of boiling water and use instead to dip the strawberries.

For best results, eat within 24 hours.

A power cut which brought part of a Lincolnshire village to a standstill has been blamed on discarded underwear.

Apparently more than a dozen houses and a set of traffic lights in Leadenham were affected.

Engineers traced the fault and found a thong had short circuited a power line.

It is believed the knickers were carried by a helium balloon from a nearby party. It became lodged in the wires and caused a fault when soaked by rain!

At the glorious Christian Dior couture show Tuesday, the fashion master had models walking the catwalk in various stages of undress, matching jackets with knickers - and skirts with impeccably designed bra tops!

Galliano's collection 'Fever in the Cabine', which brought colourful backstage chaos onto the runway (and into the world's richest women's wardrobes) was apparently dreamed up from old Dior photo archives, which showed the actual Mr Dior, behind the scenes at a Fifties couture show surrounded by models in various states of undress.

It has been recently reported, that the commander of a Swedish helicopter fleet in Linköping, has demanded that his female crew members be equipped with fireproof bras.

Apparently, safety equipment for female members of the Swedish armed forces is not up to standard with most of it designed with men in mind.

Group captain Micael Bydén, decided to speak up about the situation and has demanded that women serving in the armed forces be taken into account and be provided with flame-proof bras.

"It is a question of basic safety. You can not have anything close to the body that can set alight when you are flying," Bydén told local newspaper Östgöta Correspondenten

Upmarket department store Selfridges will soon be stocking a 'Core Precision Undershirt' for men.

The vests - already dubbed as a 'girdle for men' - promise to do for men's expanding stomachs and chests what control pants have done for the female silhouette and has already won support from former England footballer Les Ferdinand, who described the undershirt as 'a pretty miraculous product'.

The £49 vests are made from polyester, spandex and nylon to 'visibly streamline' the male body, beer belly and all, They are designed to give men a leaner silhouette under a slim-line suit, or even to help correct poor posture.

David Walker Smith, Selfridges' director of menswear, said: 'With fashion becoming slimmer and male figures becoming fuller, control undergarments are an ideal way of allowing men to carry on enjoying a six pack, without losing their own.'

The vests and T-shirts, made by Australian manufacturer Equmen, are already on sale in the U.S. and Australia, and are being launched here as statistics show that British men are more likely to be overweight than women

Apparently one in four men are currently overweight in the UK, compared to one in three women, and the numbers have risen steadily over the last 20 years.

A Selfridges spokeswoman said the store was hoping its male customers were ready for the idea of control underwear.
She said: 'It's a very tight-fitting T-shirt, so it's not like we're asking men to wear a bra. It's quite inoffensive.
'We've never stocked male control-wear before, so it will be a test. It may be that women will buy them for men, until men become more familiar with it.
'Where women ask "Does my bum look big in this?", men will wonder "Does my tum look big in this?", and that's wear the Equmen products come in.'

Apparently there are also plans to introduce control pants for men, which are already available from some other brands!

A MAYOR may have caused a few raised eyebrows when asking for women to take off their bras for charity.

The Mayor of Bexley Councillor Nick O'Hare and his wife Maria launched a bra bank at Erith Riverside Shopping Centre last Thursday to help raise funds for children's charity Barnardo's.

The bras will go on to be exported to Third World countries.

The Mayoress, who kicked off the campaign by making the first donation, said: "I think this is a really unique and fantastic idea, raising funds for really worthwhile causes. Bra-vo Erith Riverside!"

Barry Owen, centre manager at Erith Riverside Shopping Centre, added: "I know what a strong and caring community Bexley is and I'm sure that during the campaign we can pull together and ensure that Barnardo's receives great support for the wonderful work that they do."

Donated bras will be weighed and the value per kilo will be donated to Barnardo's, which supports abused and neglected children across the UK, before they are shipped out to Third World nations.

The bright pink bra bank is situated within the centre and clean wearable bras of any size are wanted.
