October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

What is it?

Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) was introduced as a worldwide campaign in 1993 by Evelyn Lauder to:
  • increase awareness of breast cancer
  • raise funds for research into the disease
  • support people affected by the disease.
Today, the major breast cancer and cancer charities all over the UK continue to champion the cause every October, employing the pink ribbon – now a global symbol of breast cancer awareness.

Breast Cancer Care uses BCAM as an opportunity to make people aware of the ways in which it helps anyone affected by breast cancer or with breast health concerns through:
  • Fundraising activities, including In the Pink and the Breast Cancer Care Fashion Shows – the charity's flagship events
  • Pushing for better treatment and support via high-profile campaigns such as 80over50 and the launch of our Secondary Taskforce campaign
  • Putting many pink products on sale to raise money for the charity, including long-standing partners ASDA and Boots and other high-profile brands such as QVC, Dorothy Perkins, Swarovski and Interflora

Kudos for anyone who helps increase awareness to breast cancer and cancer related topics.
Onother example to go along with your blog, is the existence of Thermography which is a safer alternative to mamograms. It has been around for about 30 years. Not surprising to me, it was not approved by the FDA until a few years ago.
